  Protect4Sure put safety first.

  In the normal course of events, it is reasonable for authorisation to be obtained before starting repairs.

  However, in an emergency situation, such as your car being attended to by a recovery organisation when the claims office is closed, your policy makes provision for the claim to be reviewed. Refer to your policy for full details.

  Protect4Sure policy holders have the choice of using the approved repairer or your own preferred repairer, if they are vat registered and ensure the claims procedures are followed.

  To save you being out of pocket, whenever possible, we settle the bill with the repairing garage. This is largely achievable when repairs are carried out by our approved repairer.

  Please note that should you choose to use your local repairer, the labour content of any claim will be equal to the discounted labour rates charged to Protect4Sure by the approved repairer and the standard ICME mechanical repair times.

• What should I do if my car has a fault or breaks down? more...

  Protect4Sure has appointed AutoProtect (MBI) Limited to ensure claims are handled swiftly over the phone by qualified and experienced professionals to guide you through the process.

  Claims are handled over the phone
  Call 01279 456500 9am - 5pm Weekdays:  9am - 1pm Saturday.
  You don't need to wait for your car to breakdown, if you notice a fault or, if during MOT or routine service your repairer notices an insured part is about to fail, just pick up the phone.

  Don’t start repairs without an authorisation number
  It’s really important to have authorisation from the claims department before giving the repairer permission to start any work. Without it your claim may be invalidated.

  Book your car in for repair
  The claims department will help you find the nearest approved repairer. The approved repairer is Halfords Autocentres, one of the UK's leading MOT, car service and repairs specialists - voted “excellent” on Trustpilot with over 80,000 reviews. You are of course free to use your own repairer as long as they are vat registered.

  Book your car in and, if necessary, give them your permission to carry out fault finding. Try to have your policy schedule and service records available just in case they are needed.

  Authorisation
  The garage will identify the cause of the breakdown and check with the claims department that the parts needing repair or replacement are covered by your warranty.

  The claims department will provide an authorisation number to the garage for the repairs and costs, this is why they need your policy information and possibly service records.

  Payment
  To save you being out of pocket, where possible authorised costs will be settled directly with the repairer. You will just need to pay the cost of any additional work not covered by your warranty.

  Approved repairers will know the process and send details of the invoice with the authorisation number to the claims department.

  Cars can let you down at the most inconvenient time and your Protect4Sure warranty has a provision for this.

  If you find yourself in the situation of having to carry out repairs in an emergency situation, for example attended by a recovery organisation when the claims office is closed, then you should:

    - Retain any parts removed from your car as they may need to be inspected.
    - Obtain a VAT receipt from the repairer showing
          date and time the repair was diagnosed and carried out.

  It is then very important to contact the claims department at the earliest opportunity.

  Protect4Sure offer a choice of claim limits from £1000 per claim all the way up to your cars retail value.

  This is the maximum amount that you can claim per breakdown including parts, labour and vat.

• How much of the hourly labour rate is covered? more...

  The hourly labour rate, for authorised claim times, charged to Protect4Sure by the approved repairer is covered in full, subject to your chosen claim limit.

  The usual hourly labour rate of the approved repairer is over £100.  However, in view of the large volume of warranty repair work carried out, unsuprisingly the rate charged to us is significantly discounted, reducing repair costs and allowing us to pass on lower warranty premiums.

  If you choose to use your own repairer, the claims Administrator, AutoProtect (MBI) Limited, will pay them up to the equivalent AutoProtect national labour rate (including vat) which is currently £57.60ph if the repairer is inside the M25, or £48ph outside the M25.

• What hourly labour rate is covered if I use my own repairer? more...

  If you prefer to use your own repairer, the claims Administrator, AutoProtect (MBI) Limited, will authorise up to a reasonable retail price for parts and up to the equivalent AutoProtect national labour rate (including vat) which is currently £57.60ph if the repairer is inside the M25, or £48ph outside the M25.
